Weight: 9.3 oz.
Brooks DNA provides custom cushioning for runners of all types and sizes. Engineered from what's called a non-Newtonian liquid, this midsole technology responds to the amount of force placed on the foot and disperses the pressure, providing just the right amount of resiliency. Simply put, you can expect soft comfort when you want it, firm support when you need it.
BioMoGo is the world's first-ever biodegradable midsole for running shoes. It is a non-toxic, natural additive to the MoGo compound that encourages anaerobic microbes to munch away once it hits an active enclosed landfill. Traditional Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) midsoles can last up to 1,000 years in a landfill. BioMoGo’s microbial munch rate is 50 times faster, biodegrading nutrients into reusable byproducts. Over the course of, say, 20 to 25 years or so, Brooks alone can save 29.9 million pounds of landfill waste. For you pigskin fans out there, that equals 1,277 football fields covered one shoe deep!
Shank-like thermoplastic device provides torsional rigidity to midfoot, enhancing support while allowing the heel and forefoot to act independently.
Caterpillar Crash Pad
This segmented crash pad customizes the individual's lay down with just the right amount of cushion and stabilization, giving the runner a smooth heel to toe transition.

Awesome neutral running shoes!

I got these yesterday and went for a 3 mile run in them this morning. Admittedly, I haven't worn these for weeks, but I think they are keepers... I was set on getting a pair of Asics, but I bought the Asics Kayano 17, and returned them the next day because for me, they were really uncomfortable- (which makes sense because the Kayano 17 is a stability shoe, and I am a neutral runner) so I gave the Brooks a try-on and it was immediate love! I bought the blue version, which is very attractive, with just the right amount of feminine embellishment in the logo on the shoe, with dark blue and very nice turquoise accents. Personally, I don't like pink/purple/sparkly shoes.... These are SO lightweight, and I have no foot pain, blisters, anything, from their maiden run : ) The shoes upper is very breathable/flexible mesh, which I can really appreciate here in the humid Virginia summers we have. Overall, highly recommend! : )
A good upgrade

I just bought the 4s to upgrade from the !Brooks Women's Ghost 3 Running Shoe I wore out. First off, let me say I was initially apprehensive about spending $100+ on a pair of shoes, especially when you wear them out as much as I do. I'm military, so I run almost every day. But as soon as I put the 3s on, I knew I was going to buy them. The 4s were no different. They are so light weight and comfortable, it's unbelievable. I had shin splints when I bought the 3s, and they helped me get rid of them. The thing I like the most about the Ghosts other than the comfort, is the fact that you don't have to break them in! They come ready to go! This is my second pair of Brooks Ghosts and it won't be the last

camparing this shoe to others, this one held my foot so securly. I'm a beginner runner and this has given me that extra motivation. It makes running feel not so much a chore.
I Miss the Ghost 3
Wish the Ghost 4 would have worked for me, but the change/reduction in forefoot cushioning and reduced firmness in the heel was a deal breaker. Love the improvements such as the much needed padding to the tongue and collar to the Ghost 4. The Ghost 3 is sadly lacking in padding around the collar, and I had to add a piece of cushioned padding to protect my ankle bones. I also like the loop attached to the tongue to remedy slipping from side to side in the 4. I hope the Ghost 5 will have both the fantastic foot bed/sole of the Ghost 3 and the plush upper of the Ghost 4. That would be the perfect shoe. True to size for Brooks, although the toe is wider on the 4 than the 3.
Took up running just this March. I have hung on with the sneakers I already owned. Now that my runs are longer and I am gearing up for a 5k it was time for a new pair of shoes. I tried on no less than 10 pairs. 5 different styles of Brooks. The Glycerin's had a great bounce! I was waffling, but as an underpronator with a high arch in the Ghost 4 I found my entire foot hitting with each stride. My knees stopped hurting and I'm on my way.
Don't know how I ran before without them
I was a die hard Nike+ wearer until I started running more. When it was time to get new shoes my local running store suggested I try some other brands to see what I thought. This was the first pair I put on and was hooked immediately. Aside from them having my favorite color on them (the aqua color... you should have heard the squeel of delight when I first saw them), when I put them on the very first thing I noticed was how light weight they were. When I walked in them across the store to the treadmill to do the gait analysis I felt like I wasn't wearing shoes at all. Then as I ran for over 5 minutes on the treadmill I couldn't get over the comfort and feel. I ended up wearing them out of the store I loved them so much. Now a month and a half into wearing them for running I honestly can't imagine wearing anything else. I am considering buying a second pair SOON!
