Men's Merrell Bare Access

Durability in this shoe is suspect, due to the fact that the entire sole is not Vibram ruber. I absolutely loved the lightness and fit of these shoes. During my second workout in these shoes, the rubber "pods" ripped right off of BOTH shoes. I was doing lateral quickness drills exploding out of my cuts fairly hard. Merrell was very understanding and sent me a pair of more durable although slightly heavier road gloves which have lasted me seven months of heavy usage. Merrell has redesigned these shoes and now incorporates a full vibram sole on the Bare Access 2. These shoes are comfy and visually stunning and would probably suffice for everyday civilian ambulation. But be prepared for them to be overwhelmed by a man sized workout.

I have had these for about 3 weeks now and love them. At first I felt that they weren't "barefoot" enough for me but after a short period of time, and changing my running technique, I was very wrong. I have slowly been building up the strength in my calves to extend my runs. TAKE YOUR TIME! At first I was so excited and ended up being so sore I had to take three days off. They are incredibly comfortable and still give you that minimalist running experience. -Satisfied Customer

Barefoot Bare Access rocks the roads and the trails! This is now my go-to shoe, and over the summer I'm building up the ability to handle mileage in them to rock marathons and ultra marathons. A recent ultra left me wishing I'd been more connected to the terrain, so I turned to Merrell; I've had a fundamental re-birth in running. Thanks, Merrell! Recent runs on trails with these shoes proved that they are versatile, and have enough side and toe protection, to be multi-functional. These are so comfortable, I can cruise around on me feet all day in them - with happy feet and legs. Thanks for a GREAT shoe!

I bought this shoe after looking extensively at the Vibram brand. This is the MOST COMFORTABLE shoe I have ever owned. I will admit, I do not run much, as these reviews mostly talk about. I extensively use the shoe for daily use, walking, and canoeing. For the average joe, looking for a good summer shoe....THIS IS IT! Wear it with socks, barefoot, walking, work, canoeing, running, hiking. The sole is extremely comfortable and the front of shoe is wider for great toe movement. Couldn't ask for anything better from Merrell!

I really love the Bare Access. I've been moving from more shoe to less shoe for about a year and a half. The Bare Access is the perfect "one-step-above" a zero cushion, zero drop shoe. It provides just enough of a cushion to protect from the pounding of the roads. I am able to run trails in the Trail Glove (zero cushion) but still prefer a little more for the road surfaces. They are very lightweight, flexible and breathable. My only concern is how long they will last. I have 150 miles on them and already they show signs of wear. The sole is chewed up a bit (especially areas without the Vibram pods) and there is some sign of degradation of the inner heel cup. I would like to get another pair, but will hold off until I see how long they last.

Better than I expected, which is excellent based on past Merrell shoes I've worn. Plenty of wiggle room in the toe with an overall good fit. Probably the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned.

I find this shoe nearly perfect, even for someone in mid 60s who has always used standard running shoes. The slight cushioning makes all the difference when running on hard surfaces, yet with the benefits of barefoot running. My knees feel better than they have in years, and it seems easier to run. The shoe is very well made and weighs next to nothing which makes it excellent for traveling. I plan to stay right with this product.

By far the best fitting and most comfortable shoe by Merrell (for me, anyway). Glad I bought a pair! Want another one when the new colors come out. Thanks!
