Men's New Balance 1400

"WOW...I love these shoes! While I purchased my RC 1400s for competition and as they are so light, I expected little in terms of cushioning. Was I wrong. They are extremely comfortable. I've run a 5K and 15K since receiving them, doing great in both races and feeling fast while doing so. I usually take a B width and was a little trepiditious that the standard D width may seem too wide--it doesn't so they may run a little narrow, which is perfect for me. I lace them up and am ready to go! Congratuations on giving us NB racers a winning comp!"

"These shoes are truly remarkable! They are featherweight shoes, even in my size 13\'s, yet they provide a level of cushioning comparable to many performance trainers that are substantially heavier. They are a perfect race shoe for all distances, and a training shoe for everything from intervals to tempo runs. Every once in a while a shoe company hits the perfect sweet spot in developing a shoe. My two hopes are that they don't discontinue or change this shoe much in the future, and that the superlight weight insole materials hold up for my expectation of around 250 miles of use!"

After recently losing (literally) a shoe to the mud and muck in a recent trail race I had to run out and get new running kicks. I previously ran in Brooks ST4 Racers. They were also light and considered racing flats, but these are a bit lighter (2 oz) and have less heel/toe drop. The 1400s were the first shoe I tried on and after trying about 6 or 7 others they were still the ones that felt best. Obviously foot shape is different for all folks, but I loved the snug fit of the 1400 in the middle of my foot and the breathing room they have up front. The 1400 are extremely lightweight and while they are cushioned, they don't have much in the way of stability control. This is just how I like my shoes, so another plus. My first run was a set of hard intervals and I could hardly notice the shoes on my feet. While I do strongly endorse these shoes, I highly recommend trying to get them at a place where you can try them on. Or, at least sizing and testing first and then ordering.

Great shoes, super light, super fresh, super flashy, super rad. Great alternative for a minimalist runner who's looking to give their tired feet a rest.

This is a very light weight racing flat which I have worn for a half marathon, clocking my personal best. With this, I also met my training goal of under 25 mins for 5 km. Due to the thin sole and limited cut, I am using it purely for races or trial races. Another pair of trainer (ASICS DS Trainer 15) is used for normal mileages. Nice striking color combination, glows nicely during the dusk runs. The cutting/sizing of this model is a little smaller than the usual running shoes. I need to wear thin socks as my little toe was a little squashed when a pair of thick socks was worn during the said half marathon. If you are used to wearing thick socks, try to get half a size larger, or try it out at the store if you can help it. Happy Running!
