Need a little support when you're out on the run? Reach for a pair of stability running shoes. These styles give you the extra protection you need if you excessively pronate. Pronation is the degree to which your ankles roll in when your foot strikes the ground. (Note that everyone pronates to some extent. Overpronation just means your ankles roll in to a higher degree.) Stability designs include some sort of posting on the inner side of the shoe to slow down this rate of pronation. The amount of stability a shoe gives varies among styles, so you can find shoes that work well for mild overpronators to severe overpronators.
